Kickstarter Week-Two Reflections: Fully Funded
Week two down and on Monday morning the campaign was fully funded.
Wow.
And then it was exceeded.
Wow.
The support is humbling and inspiring. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you.
I've been getting up everyday (except weekends—gotta make time for rest) at 4:30 to work on getting this book done and I feel even more motivated and sustained in that.
“First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not. Habit will help you finish and polish your stories. Inspiration won’t. Habit is persistence in practice.”- Octavia Butler
I have maintained this habit for months now, persistence in putting the pen to page. The biggest barrier to this is the perfectionism I grapple with. I recorded a song to celebrate the full funding but by the time I was ready to post, I was no longer satisfied with it (hence today's much later post.) It won't move you if it doesn't move me. That's the truest part about this entire creative process because there's a vulnerability to all of it, making something meaningful to me and putting it out in the hopes that it means something to you.
I've been sitting with the song Gloria quite a bit, it's on the playlist I draw to (between the multiple versions of Persona 5's “Beneath the Mask.”) In the hours before light breaks through my window, it's me and my pen. In the hours after work it's more often than not the very same.
I am working hard to get Sanguine finalized and I look forward to sharing it.
Fully funded. Wow.
Thank you!
